Tour details

This tour is for people with previous hiking experience  who love red rocks, canyons and uncrowded destinations.

We will visit famous and beautiful Bryce Canyon national park — its colorful hoodoos are not possible to miss, other places that we visit are hidden gems that remain serene and peaceful.

Escalante National Monument is huge and beautiful, and most of the park remains wild and undeveloped. This is the place of many “Out of the Earth” landscapes, beautiful canyons and waterfalls. There are many trails and routes, most of them are unmarked or just destinations, where you go out and explore. This fact keeps crowds away — there are just a few trails near paved roads that have become well known in the last few of years.
We will explore the Northern part of the park — it is higher and greener. Every day we will be hiking 10+ miles , except the first and last days. The hiking distance is approximate because a big part of our hikes will be going off trails and exploring.

This is a good opportunity for someone, who hikes regularly and visited many “bucket list places” to see something new and beautiful. For a few days, focus on hiking only, clear your mind and recharge your batteries.

We will stay in hotels and lodges, ride in a comfortable van, and eat in restaurants.

This trip is good for people with some hiking experience, intermediate level.

Route

Las-Vegas, NV — Cedar City, Ut — Kanarra Falls — Bryce Canyon National Park — Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument — Mount Canaan Wilderness — Las-Vegas

Pictures

October 5th — arrive in Las Vegas in the afternoon; meet and greet at the airport. Drive to Cedar City, Utah — we will have dinner on the way. Night in a hotel in Cedar City.

Cedar City is in the middle of the Rock Canyons Land and we will have a hike nearby the next day.

October 6th — Early start, breakfast in a hotel. Hiking Kanarra Falls trail — very interesting slot canyon with beautiful waterfalls. It is a river hike, with some ladder climbing, 4 miles, 650 ft elevation change. Afternoon — Bryce Canyon National Park. Hike among giant hoodoos — 6-7 miles, the trail is moderate, well maintained and marked. Main viewpoints and unusual formations. After hiking we will go to the town of Escalante — a little town lost in the heart of Red Rock land. Night in a hotel in Escalante.

October 7th — Escalante National Monument North — Early start, hiking the Lower Calf Creek Falls trail — 6.7 mi, 870 ft elevation gain. Picnic lunch. In the afternoon — hiking Upper Calf Creek Falls trail. The official trail is just 2 miles with 600 feet elevation gain. But there are possibilities to explore around and swim above the falls, weather allows. Calf Creek Falls are among the most beautiful waterfalls in Escalante Park. We will see giant petroglyphs and structures built by Fremont natives who lived in this region in the past. Night in Escalante.

October 8th — Escalante National Monument North. Morning hike Bighorn Canyon Trail 8+ miles — amazing slot canyon with very colorful and interesting formations. Drive to Kanab, Utah — 2+ hours. If time allows we will do another hike in the Monument.

Kanab is an old mormon town that lies in the middle of Red Rock Lands. Hollywood recognized this little treasure a long time ago and many westerns were filmed here. Small and cozy, with few good restaurants and local beer. Night in a hotel in Kanab.

October 9th — In the morning — hiking in Mount Canaan Wilderness. It looks Zion National Park, but without crowds. 3+ miles to the waterfall and top of the mountain will add as another 3+ miles if the group desires and we have time. After the hike we will have lunch on the way to the airport and fly home in the evening.
